蓮の蕾が膨らんでいます。

■今日から6月です。水無月6月のスタートは、いつものコースを6.09km走り、6月の積み重ねの第1歩を踏み出しました。

月が終わり新しい月が始まると、こうしてまた一から100キロの積み重ねを始めるのですが、これが気持ちの切り替えという面で、私にとても良い影響を与えているように思います。

気持ちを切り替えることは、より良い人生を送る上でとても大切なことですが、なかなか難しいものです。その点、自分はささやかな目標ではありますが、毎月月100キロを走るという目標があるために、その月に色々嫌なことがあったとしても、月初になればすっかり切り替えて、また一から始めるという心の準備ができるという点で、良い目標設定だと思っています。

いつまでできるか分かりませんが、可能な限り続けて行くつもりです。

■今朝の東京新聞「私説　論説室から」では、「プロレス社長の言葉力」と題して書かれています。『つらい時、悲しい時、前を向く力を与えてくれる自分の中の何者かを、「精神の背骨」と呼んでいる。私の背骨にはかなりの濃度でプロレスが含まれている』と書かれています。

そして先日、新日本プロレスのハロルド・メイ社長がファンに向けて発信した動画を見た様子を書かれています。メイ社長は選手やスタッフを感染リスクから守ることや、企業の社会的責任を理由に、無観客でも試合を行わなかったと説明。グッズなどを買って経営を支えるファンに感謝を述べ、選手には長年蓄積したけがの治療の機会にしてほしいと呼びかけました。

『絶対に歴史を絶やすことなく10年後も20年後もこの世に生き残りをかけて頑張ります。一緒に生きていきましょう』

単純だ、と笑われるかもしれないが、その言葉にほろっとした、と筆者は述べています。

メイ社長は、新日本プロレス社長に就任した直後、東京新聞夕刊の紙面に執筆依頼をされた際、自分がどんな人間か知ってもらうため社員にも読んでほしい、と意欲的に原稿を送られてきたそうです。言葉の力を信じている人なのだと感じた、と書かれています。

そして最後にこう結んでいます。

『こういう非常時こそリーダーは言葉の力が問われる。棒読みしかできない人は残念だなあと思う』

棒読みしかできない人が誰なのかは答えるまでもありません。

私が大切だと思うのは、戦後75年かけて私達は私達なりの民主主義を育ててきたはずなのです。その終着点が今の安倍内閣だという事実をしっかりと受け止める必要があります。

異国の地、あるいは本土で命を落とさなければならなかった300万を超える同胞達が望んだのは、権力者の嘘や隠蔽がまかり通る今のような国の形では、決してなかったと私には思えるのです。

国民1人ひとりがしっかりと目を開き、自分の頭で考え、マスコミに踊らされること無く、国の未来を案じない限り、この国に未来はないのです。

Changing emotions is very important for a better life, but it can be difficult. I have the goal of running 100 kilometers every month, so I can completely change my mind at the beginning of the month. In that respect, I think it is a good goal setting.

I don’t know how long I can do it, but I will continue this goal as much as possible.

The author wrote how she saw the video that Harold George Meij, president of New Japan Wrestling, sent to his fans the other day. Immediately after assuming the post of President of New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Meij was asked to write in the evening newspaper of the Tokyo Shimbun. At that time, he seems to have sent the manuscript eagerly that he wants his employees to read in order to know who he is. I felt he was a man who believed in the power of words.

Needless to say, who is the only person who can read like that?

What I think is important is that over the 75 years after the war, we should have developed our own democracy. We need to firmly take into account the fact that the end point is the current Abe Cabinet.

It seems to me that the more than three million of our fellow countrymen who had to die in a foreign land or on the mainland would never have wanted a country like the one we have now, where lies and cover-ups by those in power are commonplace.

There is no future for this country unless each and every one of its citizens opens his or her eyes, thinks with his or her own head, and sees the future of the country without being swayed by the mass media.
