■今朝は走りました。先週の水曜日以来ですので、5日ぶりということになります。いつものコースを6.87km走り、これで8回のランで48.36kmを積み重ね、残り13日で51.63kmのところまで来ました。予定よりも遅れています。
ゴールデンウィークから昨日の日曜日まで、これほど続けてゴルフをしたことはありませんでした。疲れがそれだけ溜まっています。今日も走りながら、エネルギーが足りなくなっているのを感じながら走りました。筋力が衰えてる上に、体力も衰えているに違いありません。
これではフルマラソンどころか、ハーフマラソンですら完走は難しい、と感じるほどです。
■さて今朝の東京新聞「考える広場」では、『韓国エンタメ 世界席巻の理由』と題して、3人の方が意見を寄せられています。解説には、こうあります。
韓国エンタメの躍進
ポンジュノ監督の「パラサイト 半地下の家族」は昨年5月、カンヌ国際映画祭で最高賞のパルムドールを受賞。今年2月には米アカデミー賞作品賞にも輝き、世界を代表する2つの映画賞を64年ぶりにダブル受賞した。
音楽ではK-POPが世界的人気で、男性グループ「BTS（防弾少年団）」は2018年、アジア圏のアーティストとして初めて、米ヒットチャート「ビルボード」のアルバム部門で全米1位になった』。
軍事政権時代の韓国では、映画も政府の検閲を受けており表現の自由はなく、作品はエンタメ性にもメッセージ性にも限界がありました。状況が変わったのは民主化が本格的に進んだ1990年代半ばからだ、と翻訳家の桑畑優香さんが述べています。
輸出できる商品として政府が映画の育成をはじめてからです。以前テレビの特集で、こうした韓国の政策の転換に深く関わった二人の方として、金大中大統領ならびに李御寧(イーオリョン)文科相のことが特集されていました。
もちろん、おふたりだけの力ではないのですが、文化の力というものを信じている政治家の出現によって、韓国は大きく飛躍したと私は思います。
あの名作「冬のソナタ」によって日韓関係は文字通り様変わりしました。民間レベルでの交流が一夜にして今までとは全く変わってしまったのです。日本人の心のありようもすっかり変容しました。一番近くて遠い国と言われていた韓国が、文字通り一番近い国に近づいたのです。韓国のドラマを見ることが当たり前のことになりました。
韓国の人達がどんなものを食べ、何を考え、どんな生活をしているのか、本当に身近な存在となりました。これは二国間にとって画期的なことです。政治家が、いくら友好関係を強調したところで、民間レベルでの交流あるいは心のありようが変わらない限り、国同士の関係はスムーズにいかないものです。
韓流ドラマの力は、まさにどの政治家の言葉よりも大きな力を発揮したのです。そうした道を拓いてきた韓国のお二人の政治家に敬意を表するしかありません。
I ran this morning. This is the first time since last Wednesday, so it’s been five days. I ran my usual course of 6.87km, which piled up 48.36km in 8 runs, and I’m now at 51.63km with 13 days to go. We are behind schedule.
From Golden Week to last Sunday, I’ve never played golf in such a row. That’s all the tiredness that piles up. I ran again today, feeling a lack of energy as I ran. On top of the muscle weakness, I must be losing strength.
At this point, I feel that it would be difficult to complete even a half marathon, let alone a full marathon.
In this morning’s Tokyo Shimbun’s “Thinking Square”, three people gave their opinions under the title of “Why Korean entertainment is taking over the world”. The commentary goes on to say.
Korean entertainment’s breakthrough
Ponjuno’s “Parasite: A Half-Subterranean Family” won the Palme d’Or, the highest award at the Cannes Film Festival, last May. In February of this year, the film won the U.S. Academy Award for Best Picture, the first time in 64 years that it has won two of the world’s leading film awards.
In music, K-POP is popular worldwide, and the male group BTS (Bulletproof Boys) became the first Asian artist to reach No. 1 in the U.S. in the album category of the U.S. hit chart “Billboard” in 2018.
In South Korea during the military regime, films were also censored by the government and there was no freedom of expression, so the films were limited in both entertainment and message. The situation changed in the mid-1990s, when democratization was in full swing, according to translator Yuka Kuwabata.
It was only after the government started nurturing the film as an exportable commodity. In a TV special, President Kim Dae-jung and Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Lee Wo-Young were featured as two people who were deeply involved in this shift in Korea’s policy.
Of course, it is not just the power of the two of you, but I think that the emergence of politicians who believe in the power of culture has made a great leap forward in Korea.
The masterpiece “Winter Sonata” literally changed relations between the two countries. The interaction at the civilian level has changed completely overnight from what it was before. The state of the Japanese mind has been completely transformed. Korea, which was said to be the closest and farthest country, has literally become the closest country. Watching Korean dramas has become the norm.
I became really familiar with what people in Korea eat, what they think, and how they live. This is a milestone for the two countries. No matter how much politicians emphasize friendly relations, relations between countries will not go smoothly unless there is a change in the state of mind or exchanges at the private level.
Indeed, the power of Korean drama was greater than the words of any politician. I can only pay tribute to the two Korean politicians who have paved the way for such a path.
